In the last week alone, 156,166 people fell ill, more than 86 thousand of them were children under 17 years old.
Since the beginning of the epidemic season, from October 2 to December 17, 1.5 million people fell ill with influenza and ARVI in Ukraine, which is 35.7% more than the same period in the 2022-2023 season. This was reported by the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
In the last week alone, from December 11 to 17, 156,166 people fell ill, of which 86,561 were children under 17 years of age. The proportion of children in the total number of patients with ARVI is 55.4%.
Exceeding the high level of the epidemic threshold was registered in the Chernivtsi region. In the Zhytomyr region, the epidemic threshold corresponds to the average level. In other regions of Ukraine the situation is stable. Non-epidemic level remains.
Also, 10,419 cases of COVID-19 were registered throughout the week, including 1,241 children under 17 years of age.
According to surveillance data, 60 people were reported to have died with a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 during the week.
In 10 regions of Ukraine, the circulation of influenza viruses of strains A and B was detected, two people with this disease died. In both cases, the patients did not have preventive vaccinations against influenza and COVID-19.
During the reporting week, 5,542 people received preventive influenza vaccines, of which 4,095 people were from medical and epidemic risk groups.
In total, since the beginning of the epidemic period, 118,846 people have been vaccinated against influenza, of which 73,575 people are from the medical and epidemic risk group, which is 0.9% of the total target group.
We remind you that 17 subtypes of the Omicron coronavirus strain are circulating in Ukraine. Since the beginning of 2022, this particular strain has actually replaced the other strains of COVID, in particular Delta and Alpha.
