The head of one of the Main Directorates of the Ministry of Defense is involved in a deal worth 1.5 billion Hryvnia.
The Shevchenko District Court of Kyiv sent to custody without bail the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, suspected of theft during the purchase of shells. Suspilne reported this on Saturday, December 23, in connection with the capital prosecutor’s office.
“The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention without bail until February 19, 2024,” the statement said.
The day before it became known that the SBU and the Ministry of Defense discovered and liquidated a scheme for the purchase of artillery shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for about 1.5 billion Hryvnia. In Kyiv, the head of one of the Main Directorates of the Ministry of Defense, involved in the deal, was detained.
Earlier, law enforcement officials exposed the former deputy minister of defense for embezzlement of nearly 1 billion Hryvnias. He holds the corresponding position from 2021 to 2023.
