Londoners can now donate four-wheel drive vehicles to Ukraine as part of a recycling scheme.
The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, changed his mind and supported the idea of sending four-wheel drive vehicles to the war zone in Ukraine that would otherwise be scrapped. This was reported by The Telegraph newspaper on Saturday, December 23.
Khan has already appealed to British Transport Minister Mark Harper with a request to ensure that “Londoners and other residents of the country can donate appropriate cars to Ukraine as part of the procedure of recycle.”
“This could be done most quickly by changing national rules on the certificate of destruction, which is required as evidence that a vehicle has finally been scrapped, instead allowing eligible vehicles to be export to Ukraine through a registered charity or national procedure,” it said. in a joint letter from Khan and former British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
At the same time, Khan suggested that the British could receive funds for “removing dirty cars from the streets of our cities, while providing valuable assistance to the people of Ukraine.”
Earlier in December, Sadiq Khan blocked a plan to send cars to Ukraine that did not meet environmental requirements and were then subject to a write-off under the Ulez program.
Today it became known that the Minister of Housing, Communities and Local Government of the UK, Michael Gove, appealed to the Mayor of London with a request to transfer scrapped vehicles to Ukraine.
