Ukrainians, amid conversations about recruiting, may think that now Ukraine will be defended “only by those who want to.” However, this is a mistaken impression, because recruiting is, first of all, improving service and approaches to mobilizing those people who are ready to serve in the army. Press Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Illarion Pavlyuk stated this during the telethon.
According to him, the successful one plans for Ukrainians to voluntarily, without waiting for mobilization or a summons, join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For this purpose, a choice of specialties is offered. However, it is a mistake to believe that now, thanks to recruiting, you can choose only non-combat specialties. With the help of recruiting, the Ministry of Defense is interested in recruiting as many people as possible.
Pavlyuk also said that there is a need to defend Ukraine, then for this purpose and thanks to mobilization, “we will still get the number of people we need.”
Let us recall that on December 19, President Vladimir Zelensky at the final press conference said that the General Staff and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine submitted a request for the mobilization of 450-500 thousand people. Zelensky said that this requires arguments, since it is a matter of additional money and security.
