He is now entitled to compensation from the State of Oklahoma for his wrongful conviction in the amount of $175,000.
In the United States, 71-year-old Glynn Simmons, unjustly imprisoned for nearly 50 years, was released. AR writes about it.
The charge is the longest sentence for a single case to have been dismissed. The man was acquitted after prosecutors admitted that key evidence in the case was not given to Simmons’ lawyers.
Simmons was sentenced in 1975 (48 years ago) for murdering a woman. He was then threatened with death, but as a result the decision was changed to life imprisonment. And thanks to the retrial, Glynn was acquitted.
Simmons is now entitled to compensation from the State of Oklahoma for his wrongful conviction in the amount of $175,000.
Let’s remember that earlier in Japan the leader of the yakuza was released from prison.
