In the area of the village of Belzec, Lublin Voivodeship (Poland), about 30 km from the Ukrainian border, on the morning of December 21, a minibus with Ukrainian registration was involved in an accident. Ukrinform reported this.
According to the press secretary of the Tomaszów Lubelski police, Małgorzata Pawłowska, a 30-year-old man died as a result of the accident and eight people were injured.
“Nine people were traveling in the minibus, all citizens of Ukraine. One person died, everyone was taken to the hospital,” he said.
The accident occurred at 06:27 (Kyiv time) on highway No. 17. The minibus, driving towards the border, did not brake in time and crashed into a truck standing on the side of the road on the line to the Polish-Ukrainian border at the Grebenne-Rawa Ruska checkpoint.
It is known that the road at the accident site is blocked. The police have identified detour routes for passenger vehicles in this area through the villages of Shalenik and Zatylye-Osada. For trucks going to Grebennoe – Rawa Ruska checkpoint, a detour is defined from Podkarpackie Voivodeship through the settlement of Siedliska.
