Duda is confident that if Ukraine joins the Alliance, Poland will receive “another strong military partner.”
Ukraine’s membership in NATO, as well as accession to the European Union, fully meets Poland’s national interests. About this on Wednesday, December 20, stated Polish President Andrzej Duda at the opening of a meeting of the country’s National Security Council.
Duda noted that Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance would distance NATO’s eastern flank from Poland, increasing its security.
“Secondly, we will get another powerful military partner in NATO, which now, unfortunately, has enormous military experience. Now Ukraine is certainly one of the best armies in the world and, in the sense of fighting , the most experienced, using the latest technologies, especially unmanned aerial vehicles is also of great importance for our security,” the head of state emphasized.
He also pointed out the need for joint actions with the new government to implement Ukraine’s intentions regarding EU accession.
“Regarding the European Union, I am happy with the decision made at the Council of Europe on moving Ukraine and Moldova to the next stage on the path to EU membership. This is a very important moment for Ukraine, for Ukrainian society, for morale of the defenders of Ukraine, as well as for the future process of the restoration of Ukraine, in which, I hope, we will actively participate for the benefit of Polish business and for the neighboring relations with Ukraine,” he added.
Polish President Andrzej Duda convened a meeting of Poland’s National Defense Council, which will be attended for the first time by new Prime Minister Donald Tusk and members of his government.
