More than five thousand women directly serve in combat zones, but in general their number is many times higher.
Since the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the number of women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has increased significantly. The head of the Press and Information Department of the Ministry of Defense, Illarion Pavlyuk, spoke about this on Tuesday, December 19, in a telethon.
“Today, there are more than 60 thousand women in total in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And of that, more than 18 thousand are only civilian positions. And more than 40 thousand are actual military personnel,” said Pavlyuk.
According to him, more than five thousand women are directly performing combat missions in the combat zone, which is much more than before the entire invasion.
It was previously reported that the Rada was preparing military registration for women. The bill stated that during martial law, women would enter military service, but only voluntarily for combat positions.
Zelensky said he would not sign the women’s mobilization law
