The move shows Russia’s growing lack of manpower to replace the losses of combat units in Ukraine.

Russia’s military leadership intends to expand the reserve of recruits by manipulating the required officers. This is stated in the report of the Washington think tank Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

It is indicated that in Russia they can raise the age limit for conscription from 40 to 49 years and cancel the mandatory requirement for military service for those who will serve on a contract with tank troops.

The move shows Russia’s growing lack of manpower to replace the losses of combat units in Ukraine. Going forward, Russia’s military leadership is likely to continue its efforts to expand the pool of suitable recruits by amending regulations governing conscription and contract service.

Recall that on June 14, 32,500 Russian soldiers were liquidated in Ukraine. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 1434 tanks, 213 aircraft, 179 helicopters and many other equipment of the Russian aggressors.
