The Pope called to “not forget our brothers and sisters who are suffering because of wars in different countries.”
Pope Francis, in a Sunday meeting with pilgrims, remembered Ukraine and called for prayer for peace. Vatican News reported this on Sunday, December 17.
“And don’t forget about our brothers who are suffering because of the wars in Ukraine, Palestine and Israel and other conflict zones. May the approach of Christmas give strength to find the way to peace,” said of the Pope.
He also separately mentioned the situation in Gaza, where “very serious and painful” news is coming from, and condemned the attacks on religious sites.
“And this happened even in the territory of the Holy Family parish complex, where there are no terrorists, there are families, children, the sick and disabled, nuns,” he said.
The pope recalled the thousands of migrants trying to cross the jungle between Colombia and Panama, pointing out that they are often “families with children who decide on dangerous routes, deceived by false promises of them a short and safe route, suffering cruel treatment. , and many die in these jungles.”
“We need a joint effort by the countries directly affected by this and the international community to ensure that this tragic reality does not go unnoticed and come together to provide a humanitarian response to it,” he added.
Let’s remember that earlier the Pope criticized Europe for the fact that countries do not offer “creative ways” to end the war in Ukraine. The Pope’s envoy, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, called on the EU to make more efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
