Popular Australian musician, the first drummer of the rock band AC/DC Colin Burgess has died at the age of 77, TMZ reported on Saturday, December 16.
The publication also provides a statement from the group regarding Burgess’ death.
“Very sad to hear of the death of Colin Burgess. He was our original drummer and a highly respected musician. Only happy memories remain, rock in peace Colin,” the band said in a statement.
The cause of his death was not disclosed.
In 1973, Burgess became a member of AC/DC with guitarist brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, singer Dave Evans and bassist Larry Van Kreedt.
Burgess also played drums in a popular Australian rock band called The Masters Apprentices between 1968 and 1972.
In 1988, he and the other band members were inducted into the Australian ARIA Hall of Fame.
