In Kyiv, on December 16, a monument was dismantled in honor of the crew of the armored train “Taraschanets”, which in August 1919, during the capture of Kyiv by the Bolshevik army, defended the Darnitsky railway junction from the Denikinites.
It was located near the Darnitsky railway station.

The Soviet-era monument “Tarashanets” was created on the basis of a historical fake about the supposed “defense of Kyiv from Denikin’s men.” The crew of the armored train actually took a direct part in the Bolshevik occupation of Kyiv in 1919.
The dismantling process was confirmed by the chairman of the Darnitsa Regional State Administration Nikolai Kalashnik:
Today the monument has been successfully dismantled and sent to the workshop of V. Znoba’s family; his son Nikolai is also a sculptor.
On the site of the dismantled monument, a memorial monument to the Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian War will be erected, and K. Zaslonov Street is planned to be renamed Heroes-Darnichan Street.
