The German magazine Die Welt writes about this.
According to military expert Niko Lange, the starting point could be a bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region, from where to Crimea, as the publication writes, 60 km (more precisely, 69 km).
With air support – Western fighters, helicopters and drones – Ukraine could advance in this sector, since Russia does not have such fortifications as those built in the Zaporozhye region.
Welt writes that Ukraine retained 95% of the armored vehicles supplied by the West because it changed its strategy in time during the summer counteroffensive (which, according to the magazine, was initially opposed by Zaluzhny).
According to the publication, Ukraine has provided the United States with a wish list for weapons, which includes Black Hawk and Apache attack helicopters, F-16 and F-18 fighters, missile systems, Abrams tanks, UAVs and ammunition.
At the same time, in the south, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding a bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnieper. From there it is only 60 km to the “Achilles Five” of the Russians in Crimea. This position could become a starting point for future actions: with fighter jets, helicopters and drones, Ukraine could support the offensive.
The Welt article notes that the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny, was not a supporter of launching a summer offensive, and a quick breakthrough was impossible, so the change in strategy was a smart move and helped gain important time.
