Each defense industry of an individual country itself cannot cope with the tasks and challenges created by the Russian defense complex, the head of the Foreign Ministry believes.
The main challenge for both Ukraine and its allies in the coming year is building a strong defense industry that can withstand Russian aggression. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba announced this on Friday, December 15, during a telethon.
“Sanctions are important, but now the most important path is the defense industries. Why I talk about this with my partners at every step, at every opportunity, because we need to create an important space for the defense industries of countries, not least the European Union and Ukraine along with the USA, Canada,” said Kuleba.
He agreed that it was a very difficult task.
“But the main problem is that the defense industry of each individual country itself cannot cope with the tasks and challenges created by the Russian defense complex,” the diplomat emphasized.
Based on the challenges, Kuleba emphasized that the main tasks for 2024 should be sanctions and strengthening the defense.
“Therefore, our policy next year is to limit the access of the Russian defense industry to technologies and raw materials as much as possible, as well as to increase cooperation between the defense industries of Ukraine and of our partner countries. By cooperation, I mean joint production of both shells and spare parts. These are two tracks, which will be key to our work to ensure that all this moves at the level of politics,” said Kuleba.
Earlier, Kuleba said that the opinion that it is possible to reach a peace agreement with Russia is wrong.
