The Second International Legion is a separate special-purpose battalion within the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It began active formation in October 2022. The basis of the battalion’s command staff were representatives of the First International Special Forces Company of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who repelled the Russian invasion in eastern Ukraine, in particular, in the battles for Lisichansk, Grigorovka, Seversk and Bakhmut.
The core of the legion is Ukrainians, Belarusians and Georgians. They were joined by representatives from all over the world.
