The Budget Committee of the German Bundestag approved a framework agreement on the production of artillery shells. The document provides for an agreement between Germany and a French company on the supply of additional ammunition to Ukraine. The transaction price is 278 million euros; 68 thousand high-explosive shells of 155 mm caliber will be produced for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was reported by the German Ministry of Defense.
It is noted that the Ukrainian military uses such shells, in particular, in the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers. The defense forces received 14 such howitzers from the Germans.
In addition, the agreement provides for the production of up to 350 thousand balloons for the Ukrainian army.
The German Ministry of Defense emphasized that these agreements are part of the European Union initiative to speed up the delivery, purchase and production of ammunition for Ukraine.
Let us remind you that the Bundestag stated that in 2024 it is planned to transfer about 200 thousand shells to the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and the German industry is already increasing the production of these ammunition.
