The deputy from the OPZZh party, banned in Ukraine, will stay in the pre-trial detention center until February 9, his lawyer Alexander Tananakin told Public. According to him, the defense is preparing an appeal.
Earlier, law enforcement officers suspected Shufrich of treason.
On November 10, the Pechersky Court of Kyiv extended the preventive measure in the form of detention for MP Shufrich for another two months.
Earlier, law enforcement officers suspected Shufrich of treason and conducted searches of him.
One of Shufrich’s main tasks was subversive activities in the information sphere. He systematically disseminated Kremlin narratives that the Ukrainian state is supposedly an artificial entity, that Ukraine and Russia have a single history, and that Ukrainians and Russians are supposedly “one people.” Thus, Shufrich tried to develop pro-Russian sentiments in Ukrainian society,” the SBU noted.
