The Ukrainian president and the Italian prime minister coordinated their positions on the eve of the decision to start negotiations on the accession of Ukraine to the EU.
President Vladimir Zelensky, in a telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, coordinated positions on the eve of the European Council summit. The head of state announced this on Wednesday, December 13, in Telegram.
Zelensky and Meloni also discussed Ukraine’s progress in implementing EU recommendations necessary for a decision to start accession negotiations.
“I hope that EU leaders will recognize Ukraine’s efforts and take this historic step. Ukraine has done its part and has proven that it can achieve tremendous results despite unprecedented challenges,” he wrote Zelensky.
He noted that he believes that unity will win the summit and that the European Union will confirm its strength and leadership.
Also, the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Italy exchanged views on the implementation of the “peace formula” and preparations for the Global Peace Summit.
