The Washington Post writes about this.
Democrat Michael Bennet said Congress cannot recess until “we overcome our differences,” referring to negotiations with Republicans on a funding bill for Ukraine, other U.S. allies and the border.
At the same time, Republican Senator Mitt Romney criticized Joe Biden for being “passive” on the issue of restrictions on the border with the United States, although his obligations to the President of Ukraine depend on this.
Starting December 14, the US Congress is scheduled to go on vacation, which will last about a month.
President Biden on December 12, at a press conference after negotiations with Vladimir Zelensky, said that the failure of the vote to allocate additional resources to Ukraine and Israel would be the best Christmas gift to Vladimir Putin. Biden’s bill for more than 60 billion additional funds for Ukraine for 2024 is in the US Congress.
