As of December 12, 2023, the administration of the Ukrainian Football Association received minutes of meetings of the governing bodies of the 14 permanent members of the UAF.
The UAF press service reported this on December 12.
Andrei Pavelko, who is now the president of the UAF, is in a pre-trial detention center. On June 6, 2023, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lvov confirmed the prosecution’s charges of fraud and theft of funds by Pavelkom in the amount of UAH 26.5 million intended for the construction of a plant for the production of artificial grass. According to the court decision, Pavelko was taken into custody and sent to a pre-trial detention center for 60 days without the possibility of bail.
The UAF Executive Committee, based on requests from UAF members and in accordance with the Charter of the Ukrainian Football Association, approved the decision to hold the extraordinary XXVI Congress of the UAF on January 25, 2024 in the House of Football (Kiev, beginning at 12:00).
The congress agenda was also approved, one of the items of which is “On the election of the UAF President.”
According to the charter, any legally competent person aged no more than 70 years, who is a citizen of Ukraine and a delegate of the congress, can be elected president of the UAF.
A candidacy for election as president of the UAF is proposed by any permanent member of the UAF and must have minimal support from at least 1/3 of the permanent members of the UAF, according to the Charter of the Ukrainian Football Association.
As of December 12, 2023, the administration of the Ukrainian Football Association received minutes of meetings of the governing bodies of the 14 permanent members of the UAF. All of them nominated Andrei Nikolaevich Shevchenko (date of birth – 09.29.1976) – winner of the Golden Ball 2004, Hero of Ukraine, awarded the honor “National Legend of Ukraine” for election as UAF President.
As is known, 27 organizations are permanent members of the UAF. Accordingly, 1/3 is made up of nine of them.
