The head of the OBA, Ruslan Kravchenko, announced this on December 12. The police and the State Emergency Service will inform residents about the air danger through loudspeakers.
Earlier, the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration reported that the failure in Kyivstar does not affect the warning system in the capital.
In Sumy, due to a malfunction of Kyivstar, the air raid warning system will temporarily not work – patrol police officers and rescuers will notify about this, the city council reported.
Also, in the Kharkov region, during the day, due to technical work, street warning sirens may not work or work intermittently, said Sokol, director of the regional department of civil protection.
In Lviv, data from public transport tracking systems and electronic displays at bus stops are not working correctly due to glitches. Today in the city street lighting will be turned off manually.
The failure of Kyivstar did not affect the actions of the Ukrainian military, the Ukrainian Armed Forces said.
At present, there is absolutely no influence of the situation on the actions of military personnel. There are some inconveniences for civilians, but for military personnel it makes absolutely no difference,” said Vladimir Fityo, head of the public relations service of the Command of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
He clarified that military personnel at the front “use slightly different communications.”
The technical failure of Kyivstar began on the morning of December 12 and was caused by a powerful hacker attack. The operator involved law enforcement officers and special government services to record the circumstances and consequences of the interference in the work. Today it is known that the personal data of subscribers has not been compromised; specialists are working to troubleshoot the problem.
InformNapalm recalls that the full-scale Russian invasion was preceded by massive hacker attacks on Ukrainian networks on February 23, 2022. Therefore, it should be remembered that large-scale cyber attacks on communications systems do not usually occur in isolation and may precede some tactical or strategic military operations.
