Next year, Ukraine will put pressure on the aggressor, so the support from the United States is very important, Vladimir Zelensky said.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky held a meeting in the US Senate, where he told American politicians about the security and economic situation and answered their questions. The head of state announced this on Telegram on Tuesday, December 12.
“A friendly, open meeting in the US Senate, which is an important confirmation of Ukraine’s support in the fight for freedom, independence and democracy,” Zelensky wrote.
He noted that during the meeting he told the senators about the current security and economic situation in Ukraine, and the importance of maintaining important support from the United States.
“Question answered. Thank you to Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell for bringing together bipartisan support for our state and people,” the message said.
In turn, the Office of the President reports that during the meeting Zelensky discussed with the senators the strengthening of air defense and the needs of our state for long-term weapons.
“He emphasized that next year Ukraine will put pressure on the aggressor, so the support from the United States is very important. In particular, the need for long-range weapons was noted. The importance of strengthening the Ukraine’s air defense to reduce Russia’s air capabilities and protect civilians was also discussed, critical and granular infrastructure,” OP said.
The day before, Zelensky ruled out a compromise with Russian President Vladimir Putin, because his word is worthless and he doesn’t need peace.
