Yesterday, December 11, the IMF Board of Directors approved the second revision of the extended lending program. This will allow Ukraine to receive the third tranche in the amount of about $900 million. This was announced on Facebook by the permanent representative of Ukraine to the IMF, Vladislav Rashkovan, who also released a video in which the Managing Director of the Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, confirms the information about the revision of the program. The video also features Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
Rashkovan emphasized that Ukraine will now work to prepare for the third viewing of the program, which could take place this spring.
Prime Minister Denis Shmigal informed on Telegram that the Foundation noted Ukraine’s achievement in implementing the program and reforms, despite a full-scale war. He noted that Kyiv has fulfilled all the “beacons” set, in particular legislative initiatives to improve the Budget Code, strengthen tax policy, anti-corruption measures, etc.
Let us recall that on March 31, the IMF approved a four-year extended financing program for Ukraine in the amount of $15.6 billion. The program is part of a $115 billion international support package. At the same time, Kyiv has committed to implementing 19 structural lighthouses to continue funding.
