This was reported by Yle TV channel.
It is noted that the border guards demanded an extension of the arrest for Vojislav Torden (this is Petrovsky’s new name and surname).
The district court decided to conceal the identity of the detainee, but, according to Yle information, the case concerned Torden, the publication notes.
Torden was released on December 8, after the country’s Supreme Court ruled that Finland could not extradite him to Ukraine due to poor conditions in Ukrainian prisons.
According to the Supreme Court, there is a real risk that Torden could be placed in a prison in Ukraine, where conditions do not meet the standards of humane treatment provided for by the European Convention on Human Rights, the newspaper notes.
However, although Torden was dismissed by the court, border guards immediately returned him to custody on the grounds that he had violated the Aliens Act. However, by decision of the border guards, he could be detained for only a few days, after which the case had to be taken to court.
