This was announced by the new head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech Yaroslav Yurchyshyn in a conversation with Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, various discussions are underway in the Verkhovna Rada about greater access for journalists, in particular related to the work of “a press center removed from the government quarter, which will provide better access, plus broadcasting of the parliamentary meeting.”
The People’s Deputy believes that during war some restrictions are necessary, but they must be clear and logical.
Now deputies are literally broadcasting from a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, and again we get a rather distorted picture, since we only see what the deputies want to show. Does the society that elected the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation deserve to have a disfigured picture of events? I think not,” Yurchyshyn said in an interview.
Rakurs wrote that, in the opinion of the chairman of the Committee on Freedom of Speech and Media, elected by parliament instead of the suspected treason Nestor Shufrich, the effectiveness of the telethon is in question.
The existence of an official single channel of communication in a warring country makes sense, but if the majority of Ukrainians receive information from anonymous Telegram channels, then something is wrong with the marathon, says Yaroslav Yurchyshyn.
Accordingly, we need to resolve the issue of either greater balance, or a more proactive position, or come to the understanding that, unfortunately, this filigree method is not fulfilling its function now and look for some other format,” concluded Yurchyshyn.
