The draft law stipulates that the location of the cemetery will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers. According to information from officials, it will be built in Gatny. Bill No. 10289 was supported by 303 people’s representatives. People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this on December 8 on Telegram.
They are given the opportunity to actually change the location of the cemetery: “the location of the National War Memorial Cemetery is determined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the proposal of the central executive body that ensures the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of social protection of war veterans,” Zheleznyak noted.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal informed that this bill will allow the necessary work to be completed in an accelerated manner. In particular, issues of land plot, urban planning conditions and environmental impact assessment will be resolved. The first phase of the National War Memorial Cemetery is scheduled to open in the first half of 2024.
Let us remind you that it is planned to build a war memorial cemetery near Kiev by 2025. In August, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a corresponding resolution and chose the village of Gatnoye, Kiev, as the construction site.
