People’s deputies generally supported the bill on changes to legislation to strengthen the independence of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. 298 deputies voted for the corresponding draft law No. 10060. People’s Deputy Alexey Goncharenko reported this on Telegram.
With this document, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office is removed from the structure of the Office of the Prosecutor General and organized into a separate prosecutorial body. It is also expected to improve the competitive selection procedure for administrative positions in the SAPO and the positions of prosecutors
The law also provides for the creation of a separate procedure for disciplinary proceedings against prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. The adopted document also defines a mechanism for the accountability of SAPS management, based on an assessment of the effectiveness of the agency’s activities.
The adoption of the law on the independence of the SAP was another of the demands of the International Monetary Fund and the European Union
Let us remind you that on December 8, the Verkhovna Rada supported a bill to increase the staff of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. Thus, the maximum number of staff of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine will increase from 700 to 1 thousand people.
