The first piggyback train with trucks already left for Poland on Thursday, December 7th. The railroad workers worked on this project for two weeks. The train had 23 platforms onto which 13 tractors with semi-trailers were loaded. Ukrzaliznytsia reported this on Facebook.
It is noted that a train with trucks runs from the Ukrainian Sknilov to the Polish Slawkow. Customs and border clearance of cargo takes place at the Izov-Grubeshev railway border crossing.
There are still formal issues regarding the rapid crossing of the Polish border, and experts are already working to speed up the process, the railway workers noted.
The company added that similar flights will be organized back and forth. From the Sławków station the trucks will travel to their destination already on the road. Meanwhile, truckers are transported by bus to the unloading point.
Ukrzaliznytsia also informed that in order to order transportation of a truck by piggyback train from Ukraine, you need to contact the branch of the Leski Transport Service Center of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC, and in the opposite direction – to UZ Cargo Poland.
Let us remind you that today Ukrzaliznytsia announced that they will massively transport piggyback trains with trucks across the Ukrainian-Polish border. This is how Ukrainian exporters and authorities are trying to solve the problem of crossing the border, which is blocked by Polish carriers.
