Now Washington’s efforts should be aimed at ensuring the work of the Ukrainian government, the State Department explained.
Ukraine will receive monthly financial assistance from US authorities in the amount of approximately $ 1.5 billion per month to support government work. This was stated by First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Derek Hogan, Interfax-Ukraine reports on Tuesday, June 14.
“We have already allocated $ 1 billion for these purposes through various mechanisms, we intend to send approximately $ 1.5 billion more monthly for 4-5 months,” Hogan said at a seminar on Woodrow Wilson Research Center in Washington.
The official noted that direct support for the Ukrainian authorities is “one of the priorities” of President Joe Biden’s administration.
Derek Hogan added that the United States should consider the “medium and long term”, and now Washington’s efforts should be aimed at ensuring the work of the Ukrainian government.
Earlier, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said that $ 7.5 billion in financial support was allocated to Kyiv.
And the Pentagon says the United States is ready to arm Ukraine for years to come. At the same time, Washington decided two questions: what weapons would be transferred to Kyiv and what training the Ukrainian military would need.
