We have completed negotiations on how Finland will further increase the production of artillery ammunition for Ukraine. This decision will be made very soon, said Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen
A decision on whether to start production will likely be made by Christmas, he said.
A plan has now been announced to significantly increase ammunition production. We intend to support Ukraine even stronger than now. At the same time, we will further increase the readiness of Finland and the Nordic countries for ammunition production,” added Häkkänen.
Rakurs wrote that the largest German armed concern received an order to supply Ukraine with 155-mm artillery shells worth about 142 million euros. The ammunition will be delivered in 2025.
The customer is a NATO partner country that intends to support Ukraine in its defense struggle with effective long-term military assistance. The projectiles will be manufactured by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions, the group’s recently acquired Spanish subsidiary.
Production and delivery of about 40 thousand shells for Ukraine on pre-order should take place in 2024.
