The press service of the head of the Ukrainian government said that Shmigal and Fico outlined priority areas of bilateral cooperation: reconstruction, energy, development of border infrastructure.
Smigal asked Slovakia for engineering equipment for humanitarian demining, which is produced by Slovak companies, and “spoke about cooperation in the energy sector.”
We appreciate Slovakia’s help with the supply of electricity. We touched upon the situation at the border. It was noted that the passage of priority cargo is carried out unhindered. We look forward to concluding an intergovernmental agreement on control at common checkpoints in the near future,” Szmigal wrote on social networks.
The Ukrainian Prime Minister thanked Slovakia for its consistent support of Ukraine’s European prospects. Szmigal wrote that Kyiv expects positive decisions at the EU leaders’ summit this month.
Budapest is blocking the allocation of a 50 billion aid package to Ukraine for four years, which the European Commission plans to allocate and has been approved by the European Parliament.
