The SBU detained a Russian agent who was recruited in Russia and sent to Ukraine for reconnaissance and subversive activities. It was at its coordinates that on December 31, 2022, Russia fired a missile at one of the buildings of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. This was reported by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The attacker also scouted the locations of headquarters and places of greatest concentration of personnel and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the capital and Zhytomyr region. An arf agent in the capital was detained in his apartment.
The enemy’s henchman turned out to be a 40-year-old resident of the capital, who professed pro-Kremlin views. And at the end of last year, he registered as a so-called volunteer and left for the aggressor country through third countries. In Russia, he declared his readiness to cooperate with the FSB, and to confirm his loyalty, he immediately gave them the coordinates at which one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was allegedly deployed in the capital region.
The attacker has already been informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The detainee faces life imprisonment.
Let us recall that at the end of November in Odessa, the SBU detained a member of the agent network of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, which was operating in the city. The attacker handed over to the aggressor dozens of geolocations where, in her opinion, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were allegedly based. Subsequently, the enemy launched targeted strikes at these coordinates, primarily using Shahed-type kamikaze drones.
