Japan has launched a new program to support Ukrainians fleeing the war

The country will grant refugee status to people fleeing armed conflicts.

The Japanese government has launched a new program to support foreign nationals who have fled conflict zones but do not meet Japan’s criteria for refugee status. NHK reported this on December 2.

It was noted that the program was introduced on December 1 “taking into account people from Ukraine.”

Resettles, in particular, will be able to study Japanese and will also be entitled to financial support.

The Japanese government will do everything possible to provide adequate assistance to those who fled their country because of the war, the Immigration Services Agency said.

We remind you that the Swiss government has extended the protection status for Ukrainian refugees until March 2025 and is intensifying efforts to integrate as many Ukrainians as possible into the labor market.
