The White House has continued to insist in talks with Congress that aid to Ukraine should be included among other things in President Joe Biden’s request for additional funding.
If the US Congress does not pass a bill to allocate funds to help Ukraine by the end of the year, it will be very difficult to continue supporting Kyiv at the required level. John Kirby, coordinator of the US National Security Council, announced this on Friday, December 1, Wiadomosci reports.
A White House spokesman said it must be done before the end of the calendar year.
“We need this support immediately so we can continue to provide care to them,” Kirby said.
Kirby added that due to the delay in the allocation of funds, the administration of American President Joe Biden has been forced to limit the amount of supplies to Ukraine.
Earlier, Kirby named three main areas of aid to Ukraine.
Recall that US President Joe Biden is trying to convince the US Congress to support aid to both Ukraine and Israel, and approve a new aid package of $106 billion, including more than $61 billion in funds to help Ukraine. However, nothing has been agreed upon in Congress. The head of the House Intelligence Committee, Republican Mike Turner, said that new American aid to Ukraine and Israel will be difficult to accept before the end of the year.
