Official Pyongyang says that if Washington interferes with the operation of its satellites, the DPRK will destroy American satellites.
North Korea has said it would consider any interference with its satellites a declaration of war. North Korea claims that in this case it will “use deterrence measures.” This was reported by Reuters on Saturday, December 2.
A North Korean defense spokesman said Pyongyang would respond to any US interference in space by eliminating the viability of US reconnaissance satellites.
“Should the United States attempt to violate the legitimate territory of a sovereign state through the illegal and unfair use of advanced technology, the DPRK will consider taking appropriate self-defense measures to detonate or destroy the viability of US reconnaissance satellites,” the statement said.
Note that a representative of the US Space Command said that Washington has every opportunity to interfere with the DPRK’s space surveillance activities in various ways.
We remind you that the DPRK announced the successful launch of its first reconnaissance satellite into space.
In addition, Pyongyang said the spy satellite photographed key target regions, including South Korea’s capital Seoul and cities where US military bases are located.
