The dictator signed a decree that increases the number of military personnel in the Russian Armed Forces by 170 thousand soldiers – up to 1 million 320 thousand people. The staffing level of the Russian Armed Forces is set at 2.2 million people. The corresponding document was published on the Kremlin website, reports TASS propaganda media.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said the increase in military numbers was due to the “increasing threats” to Russia associated with the war against Ukraine. Also, the aggressor came here to “NATO expansion.”
The defense department of the aggressor country stated that there are “no plans” to carry out mobilization and it seems that they will not increase the conscription of conscripts either. They want to expand the army gradually using volunteers.
Let us recall that at the end of November, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on the federal budget for 2024-2026, in which he allocated almost a third of all expenses for the maintenance of the army and the military-industrial complex. Over the year, 10.775 trillion rubles will be spent under the heading “national defense”, which is 70% more than in 2023. This is also a record in the entire history of Russia, because a third of the budget was spent on defense by the USSR in its final years.
