Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny and commanders from the front reported on the situation on the front line, and the head of state also heard reports on the supply of ammunition and weapons. The authorities are already preparing updated requests for communication with international partners. The next week will be important from the point of view of such communication. Zelensky announced this on Facebook.
Also at Headquarters, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine reported on possible Russian actions and the international situation next year. The authorities are analyzing all possible scenarios for 2024. Zelensky is convinced that “specific operations with a very specific justification will also give Ukraine specific results.”
In addition, mobilization issues were discussed at the meeting. The head of state emphasized that “everyone in Ukraine understands that changes are needed in this area.”
And this question is not simply about the number of those who can be mobilized. This is a question of timing – both for everyone who is now in the army for demobilization, and for those who will join the army. And this is a question of conditions,” he noted.
Zelensky added that these complex things should be worked out by the military leadership and the Ministry of Defense. All proposals must be submitted to the Headquarters for approval. Today some proposals have already been announced.
Let us recall that on December 1, Bloomberg reported that a new plan for mobilizing Ukrainians to the front has been on Vladimir Zelensky’s desk since June, but the president is not under pressure from the military to sign it as soon as possible. This plan, already approved by the Verkhovna Rada, provides, in particular, for lowering the age limit from 27 to 25 years.
