A Ukrainian citizen collected information about Polish critical infrastructure for Russian intelligence services.
The Gdansk district court sentenced a 44-year-old Ukrainian to one year in prison for spying for Russia, reports local publication Onet.pl.
According to the investigation, he was in Poland from January to March 2023 (he was detained in March).
A citizen of Ukraine collected information about the critical infrastructure of the Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian voivodeships and the activities of services and bodies responsible for security. He passed the relevant information to the Russian intelligence service.
Investigators found that the man was encouraged to engage in espionage activities in Poland.
At the end of August, prosecutors charged him with espionage for Russian intelligence.
As we previously reported, the Internal Security Agency and the Polish Military Counterintelligence Service detained 46 suspects of spying for Russian or Belarusian intelligence in 2016-2023.
