The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets, announced this today, November 30, in his Telegram channel.
Why have there been no exchanges for a long time? This question is heard by all government departments and representatives of the Coordination Headquarters participating in the negotiation processes, Lubinets noted. – And there is an answer to this question. Exchanges are not happening because Russia does not want it!
Lubinets notes that all initiatives, desires and actions of Ukraine to return its defenders from captivity are met with Russian reluctance to carry out the return of even its citizens.
I note that many Russian prisoners wrote statements saying they wanted to return, but no one on the Russian side wants to take them away,” he noted.
The Ombudsman added that Russia is trying to shift the emphasis of Ukrainian society with the Russian threat of inciting hostility and exacerbating disagreements in Ukraine and between Ukrainians.
Therefore, the absence of exchanges became an element of the Russian operation, so that the relatives of the defenders believed that the Ukrainian authorities were doing nothing to return the soldiers,” he noted.
Lubinets stressed that Ukraine will not accept the absence of repatriation processes.
Ukraine continues to work to return our defenders! Ukraine is ready to take its people! Ukraine fights for everyone! – he summarized.
