Russian media say the corresponding court decision allegedly “has nothing to do with citizens’ right to privacy.”
The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation granted on Thursday, November 30, the claim of the Russian Ministry of Justice to recognize LGBT as an extremist international movement. The court hearing was held behind closed doors. This was reported by the Russian propaganda news agency Interfax.
“Recognize the international public movement of LGBT people as an extremist organization and ban its activities on the territory of Russia,” the court decision said.
The media added that the court’s decision “has nothing to do with citizens’ right to privacy and will not entail any negative legal consequences.”
The news agency said the restrictions are related to the need to comply with the ban on LGBT propaganda, advertising, generating interest, and appealing to the LGBT movement.
It was previously reported that the Russian Ministry of Health plans to engage in “treatment” of people “suffering from mental disorders related to sexual development and orientation.” In particular, there will be offices of sexologists in psychoneurological dispensaries and clinics that will deal with this issue.
