The Russian dictator said that families in the Russian Federation should have eight children. At the same time, in his opinion, the demographic problem should not be solved with the help of money and social assistance from the state.
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the “most difficult demographic challenges” facing Russia. To overcome them, according to Putin, it is necessary to revive the tradition of large families in families. He said this in a speech at a meeting of the World Russian People’s Council on Tuesday, November 28, reports The Moscow Times.
Putin recalled that just a few generations ago, Russian families had seven or eight children, or more.
“Let’s preserve and revive these wonderful traditions. Big families and large families should become the norm, a way of life for all Russian people,” the Kremlin press service quoted Putin as saying.
At the same time, according to the president, it is “impossible” to solve demographic problems only with the help of money, benefits, social payments and benefits. The national project “Demography”, which has been in force since 2018 and has a budget of 4 trillion rubles, has so far proven powerless to pull the country out of the demographic hole.
According to the publication, in the first half of 2023, the number of children born in Russia decreased by another 3%, to 616.2 thousand, and in June it became the lowest in the entire history of observations – 104.4 thousand, which if which is 6.7% lower than a year earlier.
It is noted that the number of births of children in Russia has continued to decrease since the annexation of Crimea and has since fallen by almost a third: from 1.942 million in 2014 to 1.306 million in 2022. By the end of this year, according to forecast of Rosstat, the number of births will decrease to 1.244 million and will be the lowest since the 1990s, and in the next years it will break this minimum.
Remind you that, according to British intelligence, in November, an average of 931 Russians died every day in the war in Ukraine.
It was also reported that the Russian Federation launched the production of products from fly larvae, which, according to the authorities, should “strengthen the country’s food supply.”
