The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, met with the head of the European Investment Bank, Werner Hoyer, and the Vice-President of the EIB, Teresa Chervinska. Zelensky announced this on Facebook.
“Thank you for your visit to Ukraine and the decision to open a regional EIB office in Kiev. First of all, this is an important signal for our people that you believe in Ukraine, in the development of our state. It is also of great importance for Ukrainian business,” he told the head of state.
He thanked the decision to distribute the funds in 2022 according to the priority needs of Ukraine.
We remind you that the European Investment Bank (EIB) will allocate 450 million euros to Ukraine for two reconstruction projects. The first two tranches of 100 million euros each may be approved in the near future, approximately at the end of 2023.
As previously reported, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced the allocation of more than 30 million euros for municipal infrastructure and urban public transport projects in war-torn Ukraine. The funding includes €22 million for the purchase of environmentally friendly buses and trams and €8.7 million for major municipal projects.
