By court decision, he can post a bail of 192 million UAH. The press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reported this today, November 27.
It is noted that until February 2023, the defendant held the position of head of the Rivne regional forestry and hunting department. Then he took one of the leadership positions in the Polesie forestry office of the State Agricultural Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” created on its basis.
According to investigators, while working in the executive branch and local governments, he managed to illegally enrich himself by millions of dollars. Searches were carried out, including in the premises and workplace of the deputy and his family members. During the investigative actions, over 4 million US dollars in cash alone were discovered and seized in various currencies.
Law enforcement also found:
- three luxury cars “AUDI Q8”, “MERCEDES-BENZ GLE 350E”, “BMW X5”;
- jewelry and expensive watches, in particular, the elite brand Patek Philippe;
- Golden coins;
- gold bars;
- two pistols;
- Kalashnikov assault rifle with 16 magazines and cartridges.
To date, the accounts where he kept more than 400 thousand euros have also been blocked, the DBR notes. “In addition, the deputy owned four plots of land in Rivne, where he built cottages. The plots are registered to nominees controlled by the “chosen one”.
The defendant was reported as suspected under the article of illegal enrichment (Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years.
A letter was also sent to NAPC to monitor the lifestyle of the defendant and his family.
