As Morawiecki said, it will be a “political-expert government.”
The leader of Law and Justice (PiS) Jaroslaw Kaczynski said that it was his idea that there should not be many politicians in the government.
It is necessary to end the war, which is being waged by one party – the Civic Platform. It would be good for the new government to get down to business essentially, without unnecessary burden. This is the meaning of this sentence. We want to show that it is possible to manage differently. We’ll see how it’s received, Kaczynski said.
The new government of Mateusz Morawiecki does not have the support of a majority in the Polish Sejm, therefore, most likely, it will not receive a vote of confidence.
On October 24, the leaders of the Civic Coalition, the Third Way and the Left officially announced their readiness to create a coalition and form a government. They also named Donald Tusk as a candidate for prime minister.
Leaders of opposition parties appealed to President Andrzej Duda not to delay the appointment of the first meeting of the cabinet, to pay attention to who has the majority of mandates, and to entrust the formation of a government to the opposition, not the Law and Justice party.
According to the results of the elections in Poland on October 15, Law and Justice received 194 seats in the Sejm, the Civic Coalition – 157, the Third Way – 65, the Left – 26, and the far-right and populist Confederation – 18.
