Kim Jong-un on Friday and Saturday reviewed images of “main target regions” in South Korea.
North Korea said a newly launched spy satellite captured images of “key target regions”, including the South Korean capital Seoul and cities where US military bases are located, Reuters reported.
It was noted that the images were taken as the satellite passed over the peninsula on Friday morning.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un viewed the photographs during a visit to the control center of the National Aerospace Technology Administration (NATA) in Pyongyang on Friday. On Saturday, he visited the control center again to study the recent images taken in the morning from various regions of South Korea.
North Korean state media said one of the images shows the US aircraft carrier Carl Vinson arriving at the port of the South Korean city of Busan on Tuesday.
Kim also reportedly inspected images of US Naval Station Pearl Harbor and Hickam Air Force Base taken as the satellite passed over Hawaii on Saturday morning. He allegedly saw pictures of American military installations on the island of Guam.
Let’s recall that on November 22, the DPRK announced the successful launch of a ballistic missile carrying a spy satellite. The foreign policy leaders of the countries of the Group of Seven (G7) condemned Pyongyang’s actions.
