Lithuanian authorities have announced their readiness to join negotiations to unblock the Ukrainian-Polish border. Latvian Foreign Minister Krisjanis Karins stated this during a telephone conversation with the Minister for European Affairs in the Polish government Szymon Szynkowski vel Senko, the press service of the Latvian Foreign Ministry reported.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia conveyed Latvia’s readiness to join in and provide assistance in finding a resolution to the situation, the department noted.
The officials also discussed the future decision of the Council of the European Union on the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Karins emphasized that Riga supports Ukraine on the path of European integration.
Let us remind you that Polish protesters continue to block the movement of trucks at four checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border since November 6. As of November 25, about 4 thousand trucks had been standing in line for 10 days or more.
Protesters said they would end the blockade if the EU renewed Ukraine’s transport permits.
