The basis for the further extension of the temporary protection is the decision of the EU Member States at the end of September 2023.
In Germany, residence permits for Ukrainian refugees were automatically extended until March 4, 2025. Today the Federal Council approved the resolution. This was reported by the press service of the German Ministry of the Interior.
It was noted that Ukrainian refugees “do not need to apply to extend their residence status and do not require any relevant meetings with the immigration authorities. The basis for further extension of temporary protection is a decision of the states EU member by the end of September 2023.”
As Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Feser said, all those forced to flee the war will remain safe and have access to education and the labor market.
According to him, the German authorities will continue to protect Ukrainians and will closely support Ukraine.
According to the German side, there are currently about 1.1 million people living in Germany who have entered the country since February 24, 2022 in connection with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Of these, almost 350 thousand are children and youth under 18 years of age. About two thirds of refugee adults are women.
We remind you that according to the German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger, approximately 800 Ukrainian refugees arrive in Germany every month. They now receive almost the same social benefits as the local population that needs them.
As reported, Germany announced the need to speed up the employment process of Ukrainian refugees. Employment agencies will be more active in offering jobs to refugees. Those who decline a job offer may have their fees reduced.
