German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger told Ukrinform about this.
The situation in winter can now be very difficult. In addition to the mentioned IRIS-T systems, another Patriot system from Germany will be deployed here in the winter,” he said.
Note that the first of four new promised IRIS-T systems will arrive no earlier than the end of 2024, and the rest no earlier than 2025.
Currently, four IRIS-T systems delivered from Germany are already in place in Ukraine, noted Yeger.
Last week, Germany announced two packages of military assistance to Ukraine.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in Kyiv announced a new aid package for Ukraine totaling 1.3 billion euros. It will, in particular, include four IRIS-T systems, 155 mm artillery shells and other weapons.
The additional second package, among other things, included 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles with ammunition.
