A former official of the Ministry of Defense explained the difficulties in the rules for the entry of journalists to the front.
Russian troops track the location of Western weapons through a foreign journalist’s beacon. Former Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Malyar spoke about this case in an interview with Liga.net.
Thus, Malyar mentioned that there were cases when the enemy tracked the location of weapons behind the beacon of a foreign journalist. He emphasized that they went to the front “not only for the purpose of making a story – the intelligence officers also went there, because there are rules.”
In addition, according to the former Deputy Minister of Defense, there were also cases where operations were compromised due to information leakage from a combat zone.
“Journalists always say: “I am an adult, this is my choice, I am ready to take risks, to go to the battlefield and even to the fact that I can be injured or killed.” But when he is shot, will die the other people. Because they have to send a press officer, driver and people who will ensure their safety. And all these people (not only the journalist) are really in danger,” emphasized Malyar, commenting on the rules for media access to the combat zone.
We remind you that Malyar and other representatives of former Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov were fired on September 18.
The editor-in-chief of the media turned military died on the front lines.
