New York City Mayor Eric Adams is being sued for sexual assault he allegedly committed in 1993. The Associated Press reported on Thursday, November 23.
It is known that the case was filed in the Supreme Court on November 22. The mayor, the transit bureau and the New York Police Department Guardians Association are named as defendants. According to the document, the woman was abused by Adams while they were both working in New York. The victim is seeking a trial and damages in the amount of $5 million.
“The mayor doesn’t know who this man is. If they met, he doesn’t remember it. But he would never do anything that could cause physical harm to another person, and he vehemently denies any allegations,” a spokesperson for the mayor’s office said.
Eric Adams is 63 years old. He was a New York City police officer, promoted to captain, and then entered politics. Adams served as a New York State Senator and Brooklyn Borough President. On January 1, 2022, he took office as mayor.
